Not infrequently accidents happen with electrical devices and machines. This can be at home, at work, in the workshop or at the construction site. High speeds coupled with a sharp object can cause serious injury. So of course also with circular saws, especially hand circular saws. One should be particularly careful in handling and always thoughtful and never act hectically.
In the following we list 6 points, which should be considered in any case, so that a sawing accident does not even happen:
The first point is often ignored, because it is one of the most important. The first idea when wearing work gloves is that they should protect you against injury. Basically, that’s right, but not in conjunction with circular saws and similar functioning electrical equipment. These can by the rotation of the glove including hand, arm, … namely in a matter of seconds capture and around the machine. Once the glove has been grasped, serious injuries are usually the result.
As with the gloves, it is also with the clothes in general. „Schlapper-Shirts“ and very wide pants are out of place when dealing with circular saws. These can also be detected by the saw very quickly (usually unnoticed) and wrapped in seconds around the device in the. It literally pulls one into the saw blade!
It is also very similar with long hair. These should always be tied up or covered (cap, Cappy …) in order to prevent them from being picked up and pulled into the saw blade.
It should also be made no manipulation of the portable circular saw itself. Thus, the riving knife should always be mounted on the circular saw (only slightly lowered in the case of hidden cuts) and the pendulum hood should not be manually fixed or otherwise manipulated.
It is also advisable to wear ear protection, as the sawing process can in itself result in extreme volumes that can damage your hearing in the long run. If you frequently work with the circular saw, you should also wear respiratory protection, as this will prevent sawdust, small and micro parts from getting into the respiratory tract so quickly.
If you want to play it safe when changing the saw blade, you should always unplug the power plug beforehand. Handheld circular saws are nowadays usually provided with a safety device, which makes an unwanted switching actually almost impossible, but you never know …
If electrical appliances (stationary and localized) are used in the commercial sector (in factories, etc.), they must also be subjected at regular intervals to a device test in accordance with BGV A3, as described, for example, in US Pat. the company Ernst Lamby offers. As a result, among other things increased operational safety, reduced downtime and improved personal and property protection are given.
